Case Study: Suncor achieves standardized Control of Work and improved safety visibility with Enablon Control of Work

A Enablon Case Study

Preview of the Suncor Case Study

How Suncor began its digital transformation journey with digital control of work

Suncor, an integrated energy company operating upstream, midstream and downstream (including Petro‑Canada retail and Alberta oil sands mining), needed to standardize its Control of Work—permit to work, control of hazardous energy/LOTO and risk management—across sites that used disparate paper and legacy electronic systems, different terminology and dozens of overlapping applications. This fragmentation hindered knowledge sharing, increased administrative burden and made it difficult to uphold the company’s “Safety Above All Else” standards during its digital transformation and application rationalization efforts.

Suncor selected Enablon Control of Work as a single, cloud‑based platform to consolidate applications, unify procedures and simplify the frontline digital experience. Early results include a drastic reduction in the number of procedures to manage, clearer visibility into hazards, controls and leading safety indicators, improved access for operators and maintainers, and a stronger data foundation for identifying bottlenecks and expanding digital workflows (including planned rollouts to mining sites with enhanced mobile capabilities).
