How Cepsa leveraged digital permit to work to improve safety and efficiency

Compañía Española de Petróleos (CEPSA) is a multinational energy group operating across the hydrocarbons value chain with over 10,000 employees. Seeking to raise HSE standards and standardise processes across sites, CEPSA needed a reliable, scalable and user‑friendly digital Control of Work/Permit to Work system to improve planning, harmonise procedures, boost safety and efficiency, detect task conflicts early, increase operator mobility and integrate with other systems.

Enablon delivered its Control of Work solution—integrating PTW, isolation management and risk assessment—through workshops, a clear functional design, testing and hands‑on training and support. After a successful pilot at La Rábida in May 2016 and rapid rollouts to additional sites, CEPSA reported better harmonisation, clearer accountability, improved planning and compliance, time and cost savings versus paper processes, internal recognition for the project team and plans to extend the rollout to more sites.
