CHS, a global agribusiness cooperative operating across energy, agronomy, grains and food with about 11,000 employees and $32.7B in 2018 revenue, faced the challenge of managing Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and chemical information consistently across the enterprise. The Petroleum Refining, Pipelines and Terminals division in particular needed a single, up-to-date source of truth to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce maintenance overhead and integrate SDS metadata with its ERP and location-based inventories.

CHS solved this by integrating Enablon with Verisk 3E’s on-demand chemical property and safety data, giving automatic access to more than 9 million SDSs and regulatory coverage from over 3,000 regulations. Requests from Enablon return SDS PDFs and XML data automatically, with quarterly content updates, site-specific inventory tracking, ERP-ready metadata, and version history—resulting in easily accessible, consistent, auditable SDSs and reduced compliance and maintenance burden.
