Laing O'Rourke, the largest privately owned construction firm in the UK with a 1,200-strong Australian business, engaged Enable to replace paper-based processes with a new intranet and document management system. The company needed a multi-editor intranet that could host a project database and a CV database to support and speed up its Bid Process by providing consistent project datasheets and staff CVs as reference material.
Enable delivered a customised Fusion intranet platform and the Document Fusion document management system, building a CMS-based project database and CV database that generates high-quality PDF datasheets, includes full-text search and centralises quality procedures. As a result, Enable’s solution shifted Laing O'Rourke from paper to web, made document retrieval part of employees’ daily workflow, produced consistent outputs, reduced bid preparation effort and made the Bid Process “much quicker and much more efficient,” while delivering cost and efficiency benefits.
