The University of the South Deploys Virtual Data Center to Conserve Valuable Resources and Enable Digital Transformation

The University of the South (Sewanee) needed to modernize its aging data center to support an upgraded Banner ERP system, but replacing on-premises hardware would be costly and short-lived. The university turned to ENA and its TrustCompute cloud platform, an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution, to find a secure, scalable, and budget-friendly alternative.

With ENA’s support, Sewanee piloted and then migrated nearly all its servers to ENA TrustCompute, building a new virtual data center in the cloud. The move gave the university predictable flat-rate pricing, shifted costs from capital to operating expense, reduced hardware and maintenance burden on IT staff, improved disaster preparedness, and freed up valuable campus space; by year’s end, nearly all on-site servers were expected to be shut down.
