How One School District Is Keeping Its Community Safe from Cyber Threats

Bedford County Schools, a Tennessee district serving more than 8,000 students, needed stronger protection after a malware attack in 2019 exposed how vulnerable schools can be to cyber threats. With a small IT staff and growing concerns about student data security, the district wanted a solution that would reduce the burden on internal teams while improving visibility and control. ENA’s NetShield UTM was identified as a fit for the district’s needs.

ENA deployed NetShield UTM districtwide in December 2019, integrating it with Bedford County Schools’ existing Malwarebytes and Windows Defender tools to provide layered protection against proxies and malicious software. The rollout caused no disruption, and the district says the solution has helped it stay ahead of threats, respond proactively, and protect students and data more effectively. Bedford County Schools also noted that ENA accommodated reporting changes immediately, supporting faster action and better oversight.
