A student at the University of Cape Town was faced with the challenge of designing an optimized electromagnet for a final-year research project. Manually manufacturing and testing multiple design iterations would have been prohibitively time-consuming, especially within the project's three-month deadline. The student turned to EMWorks and its EMS electromagnetic simulation software integrated within Autodesk Inventor to address this.

Using EMWorks' simulation tools, the student was able to efficiently test various electromagnet designs by virtually adjusting parameters like current, number of wire turns, and materials. This process allowed for the selection of an optimal design before any physical prototype was built. The solution from EMWorks saved an incredible amount of time, enabling the student to manufacture the electromagnet only once and successfully meet the project deadline.
