A eMudhra Case Study
A private hospital network in India was facing significant security challenges due to its reliance on unencrypted connections and untrusted self-signed certificates for its internal clinical systems. This practice resulted in routine browser security warnings that staff had to ignore, creating a poor security culture. The hospital's IT head engaged eMudhra to implement a proper internal PKI to standardize trust and secure communications across its six hospitals as it planned for expansion.
eMudhra deployed its emCA solution to establish a private Certificate Authority for the hospital network. This included a Root CA and an Issuing CA with keys protected in an HSM, allowing the network to issue its own trusted certificates. The solution eliminated all browser warnings for clinicians and established a governed workflow for onboarding new systems. As a result, the network replaced all self-signed certificates within eight weeks and seamlessly issued certificates for two new hospitals, achieving a standardized and secure PKI model.
