Government of India expands to full DSC issuance for 4 lakh operators with eMudhra

The Government of India's national grassroots service network, which operates through 4 lakh service kiosks, faced a challenge in its digital service portfolio. While it offered Aadhaar-based eSign services, it could not issue more robust Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) itself, forcing its operators and citizens to rely on costly and slow third-party providers. To overcome this limitation and expand its digital trust services, the organization partnered with vendor eMudhra to implement a solution.

eMudhra deployed its emCA and emRA platforms to establish an independent Certifying Authority (CA) infrastructure for the government network. This enabled the organization to directly issue DSCs, transforming its vast operator network into a distributed enrollment channel. The result was an expanded service portfolio, reduced issuance turnaround times, and the ability to offer government-grade DSC services to millions of citizens at the grassroots level, all while ensuring compliance with India's regulatory framework.
