Streamlining operations to improve scheduling and event management for a 17-school college and university system

Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) is a 17-school public higher-education system whose Office of Information Technology (OIT) faced pressure to “do more with less” after a 2011 merger left campuses with disparate, aging systems. Scheduling and event management were largely manual—Outlook, spreadsheets and paper—creating inefficiency, errors, and inconsistent practices across campuses.

OIT selected and rolled out EMS Software, integrating it with the existing student information system in phased deployments (starting with the 12 community colleges) and using EMS consultants to handle campus-specific workflows. The centralized platform automated scheduling, improved visibility and reporting, reduced staffing bottlenecks, increased space utilization and event revenue, and is being extended to the four‑year universities with further upgrades and user engagement initiatives planned.
