The United States Sports Academy Uses Empower to Manage Rolling Enrollment

The United States Sports Academy turned to EMPOWER Student Information System to manage the complexities of a global, rolling-enrollment distance learning environment. Facing students who can begin study at any time and a distributed faculty, The Academy evaluated 14 vendors before choosing EMPOWER to handle asynchronous course delivery, faculty assignments, course materials and comprehensive student data management.

EMPOWER Student Information System was implemented to automate course setup (via an interface with Moodle), track each student’s coursework and schedule, and provide a web portal for faculty to enter grades. The system also produces the accurate administrative reports The Academy relies on—used by Faculty, Student Services, Institutional Effectiveness and for federal/state/accreditor filings (including NCES/IPEDS)—and, according to Academy leadership and surveys, has helped improve student learning outcomes compared with traditional classroom experiences.
