State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio), a large public pension fund serving nearly half a million retired and inactive educators, needed to move its hiring process from in-person testing to remote testing for candidates across a wide range of roles. With only about 8 to 20 openings at a time but a highly manual testing process, the HR team was spending significant time scheduling, proctoring, and hand-scoring assessments.
EmployTest converted STRS Ohio’s proprietary paper tests and existing assessments into digital online versions, while also customizing new tests for skills like grammar, attention to detail, filing, and call center work. The result was remote testing that met hiring requirements, eliminated HR time spent proctoring and scoring, improved candidate experience, and reduced time to hire. STRS Ohio said the flexible online testing has been a major time saver and plans to keep using it going forward.
