A Empatica Case Study

Preview of the Analog Missions Case Study

Analog Missions monitors crew stress over a 2-week Mars analog mission with Empatica

Analog Missions, an organization conducting simulated space missions, faced the challenge of monitoring crew stress and mental health during a two-week isolated mission in a Mars-like environment. To objectively measure the impact of a therapeutic robotic seal on the crew's well-being, they needed a non-invasive way to track physiological biomarkers and partnered with vendor Empatica to use their EmbracePlus wearable.

Empatica provided its EmbracePlus device to continuously monitor the crew's stress responses through metrics like EDA, heart rate, and breathing rate. The solution allowed for easy, comfortable, and non-invasive data collection during high-stress emergency drills. While specific quantitative results are not provided, Empatica's technology successfully enabled the research initiative by delivering the objective physiological data needed to assess the therapeutic intervention's impact.
