ChargeX Brings Smart Ev Charging to Volkswagen And Renault Premises With Emnify

ChargeX, a Munich‑based e‑mobility startup, developed Aqueduct — a modular, sequential EV charging system designed for private and semi‑public parking at business and residential sites. Their challenge was ensuring reliable wireless connectivity for remote monitoring, billing and OCPP‑based operations in locations like indoor and underground garages. To solve this, ChargeX partnered with EMnify for dependable cellular connectivity and device management.

EMnify provided multi‑network IoT SIMs (Connect), a Web Portal for real‑time visibility and pooled billing, plus OpenVPN for secure remote access, ensuring Aqueduct modules stay online even in challenging coverage areas. As a result, ChargeX deployed Aqueduct across customers including Volkswagen, Renault and Opel, maintained stable operations and accurate usage/billing data, kept connectivity costs low with pooled billing, and gained the scalability and global coverage needed to expand services across Europe — all enabled by EMnify.
