Samsonite, the global leader in travel luggage, wanted to evolve its in-store interactive 3D suitcase experience into a web-based Augmented Reality feature so online shoppers could project products to scale into their real surroundings. The challenge was to show true-to-size color and size options, reveal inside and outside details, let customers preview custom engraving in real time, and allow placement next to a person — all without a separate app.

Working with Emersya, Samsonite launched a browser-based Interactive Web AR experience embedded on product pages that projects fully interactive 3D suitcases to scale, animates actions like opening and handle movement, supports live engraving, and introduces an “Interactive AR Photo” to position models next to people for real-life size reference. The result is a richer, more confident online shopping experience — Samsonite became the first luggage brand to offer this web AR capability, with the aim of increasing customer satisfaction and reducing returns.
