University of New Mexico saved 35,000 hours and 800,000 sheets of paper annually

The University of New Mexico faced a slow, paper‑based expense and invoice process that could take up to two weeks, required physically moving documents for signatures, and created a poor user experience and inefficient use of resources. To eliminate tedious manual tasks and improve visibility, UNM implemented Emburse (Emburse Chrome River).

Using Emburse Chrome River’s electronic routing rules and PCard integrations, UNM automated expense and invoice workflows, halved processing steps, and improved compliance and visibility. Emburse enabled a 75% faster reimbursement time, recovered 35,000 hours of expense processing annually, saved 800,000 sheets of paper (about 96 trees), and reduced the university’s carbon footprint.
