The customer, NewsLive North East, a leading television news channel, faced significant challenges managing its large volume of legacy tape formats and inefficient storage workflows. Their 10 TB shared storage was consistently full, and their operations were hampered by time-consuming searches, repeated file ingests, and resistance to changing their established processes. Vendor EMAM, with its system integrator partner, was engaged to implement a modern digital file-based solution to address these issues.

EMAM implemented its eMAM Vault media asset management system to create a centralized, tiered storage architecture integrated with an LTO tape library. This solution automated media movement, streamlined archiving with rules-based policies, and provided a user-friendly web interface for fast searching and retrieval of content. The new workflow managed by EMAM resulted in highly efficient operations, allowing staff to quickly browse, preview, and share media from their desktops while seamlessly handling proxies, transcoding, and deep archive management.
