Seafood Processor Improves Asset and Inventory Management to Meet Seasonal Production Demands

Silver Bay Seafoods (SBS) is an Alaska-based processor of frozen salmon, herring and crab with three remote plants that must meet intense, short seasonal production windows. Faced with high costs of downtime, long lead times for in-house parts, and the need to manage assets, automatic reordering and preventive maintenance across sites, SBS required a reliable inventory and maintenance system to ensure parts availability and streamline purchasing and audits.

SBS implemented eMaint CMMS, building a comprehensive program that tracks transactions and costs for over 10,000 parts, generates barcode labels for an unattended storeroom, supports periodic cycle counts, and feeds purchase orders into accounting software. The result was a nearly paperless inventory process, improved audit accuracy, real-time budget reporting, linked asset documentation to support UL approvals, and stronger readiness for seasonal production.
