Plano Public Safety Communications Uses eMaint CMMS to Keep Critical Communications Systems Operational in Four Texas Cities

Plano Public Safety Communications (the Radio Shop) supports emergency and non‑emergency radio systems, dispatch consoles, towers and sirens across Plano, Allen, Murphy and Wylie, Texas, managing more than 4,000 radios and other critical assets. Growing from a one‑person operation using Excel, the team needed a system with customized work requests, approval rules, automated assignment and robust reporting to meet four city managers’ service and compliance requirements.

They implemented eMaint CMMS, importing the legacy spreadsheet and using the system for asset tracking, mobile work order dispatch to on‑call technicians, contractor accountability and preventive maintenance. As a result they can track a large digital upgrade project without service disruptions, generate monthly compliance reports for each city, justify hiring additional technicians through labor tracking, and meet strict response standards for emergency outages.
