PGT Industries Leverages eMaint CMMS to Understand the True Cost of Maintenance

PGT Industries, a leading manufacturer of custom aluminum and vinyl windows, doors and porch enclosures, was running 28 production lines 24/7 and had outgrown paper-based maintenance. They needed preventive maintenance scheduling, asset and inventory tracking, and KPI reporting; after an initial CMMS fell short, they selected eMaint for its robust features and reporting at an affordable price.

Working with eMaint’s Customer Success team, PGT imported maintenance data, set asset criticality and moved from tracking corrective work to full preventive maintenance scheduling and downtime/cost reporting. The CMMS let them identify “bad actors,” measure true maintenance costs by project/asset/individual, justify staffing, and quantify lost production (e.g., one hour of downtime = ~100 units). As a result, planned maintenance rose from 10% to about 70% of work orders and visibility into labor and capital project costs significantly improved.
