eMaint CMMS Brings Relevance and Practical Skills Into the Classroom through HETA Program

Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA) is a rapidly growing Group Training Association delivering engineering apprenticeships and progression routes (HNC/HND) for over 250 Humber-region companies. To better prepare students for the maintenance-heavy curriculum, instructor Steve Underwood developed a "Plant Maintenance & Decommissioning" course covering maintenance theory, legislation, and CMMS use, and selected eMaint for its industry credibility, ease of use, and strong support.

Students used eMaint to build assets, parts lists, PMs, job plans and work orders, estimate task times and costs, and practice scheduling and inventory control. The hands-on experience revealed the importance of prioritization, capacity planning and maintenance supervision, helped struggling students apply core concepts, and led to more efficient planning, reduced costs and improved work execution — with plans to expand into KPI benchmarking and predictive maintenance.
