University of Gibraltar is building an institution for student success

The University of Gibraltar, which welcomed its first student cohort in September 2015, faced the challenge of building a modern, scalable student experience from scratch while keeping costs and a small ICT team manageable. After evaluating options, the institution selected Ellucian and deployed Quercus by Ellucian as its cloud-based student information system to meet immediate functional needs and support future growth.

Ellucian implemented Quercus with modular, pre‑configured workflows and cloud hosting, allowing the three‑person ICT team to prioritize launch-critical modules and go live for enrolment within six weeks (implementation began August 2015; Registration, Fees and Student Records live late September 2015), with all online services live by February 2016. The solution lowered infrastructure costs, provided continual innovation and data across the student lifecycle, improved web/mobile access for students, and freed staff to focus on student success — delivering a cost‑effective, scalable platform for growth.
