The Community College of Baltimore County invests in equitable support

The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) faced the challenge of keeping a diverse, largely low-income and first-generation student body enrolled and supported during the COVID-19 pandemic. To address technology and support gaps, CCBC partnered with Ellucian and deployed Ellucian Banner along with Banner Self-Service and Banner Page Builder to strengthen access and outreach.

Using Ellucian Banner, CCBC launched the CCBC Cares initiative with an enhanced early alert system and flexible in-person, remote, and hybrid options, allowing proactive, equitable student support. The Ellucian-enabled solution helped CCBC grow enrollment by 1.3% (outpacing national trends), achieve an 89% return rate for students who had withdrawn for COVID-related reasons, and add 2,832 seats to maximum enrollment.
