Texas Tech University Enhances the Student Experience with Banner Registration

Texas Tech University faced the challenge of making course registration intuitive, accessible on any device, and supportive of timely progression to degree completion. To address this, the university worked with Ellucian to deploy Banner Registration (with plans to integrate Degree Works Student Educational Planner) so students could more easily search, plan, and sign up for classes.

Ellucian’s Banner Registration delivered a visual calendar view, robust search and filter options, automated eligibility checks, and a “Plan Ahead” feature that lets students save and share schedules; advisors gain access to student plans through Degree Works. The implementation improved the registration experience—students reported overwhelmingly positive feedback—reduced the chance of registration errors through automated checks and advisor access, and allowed Texas Tech to roll out new functionality smoothly under Ellucian’s XE strategy.
