St. Edward’s University, a private liberal arts Catholic university of about 5,000 students, needed to replace a 25‑year legacy ERP and a patchwork of payment systems that drove manual work, limited reporting, and PCI‑compliance burdens (including roughly 20 calls a day to process payments). To modernize its administrative and payments infrastructure the university chose Ellucian, deploying Banner by Ellucian alongside Ellucian Payment Center by TouchNet.
Ellucian implemented a cloud‑based Banner and integrated Ellucian Payment Center by TouchNet to provide PCI compliance, unified commerce data, automated alerts, and self‑service payment features. Results included online payments increasing from 90% to 99%, reduced ad‑hoc reporting and reconciliation time, ability to pass through more than $200,000 a year in credit‑card convenience fees, and new capabilities like payment plans, authorized payers, and e‑refunds that simplified operations and freed staff for additional responsibilities.
