Pearl River Community College implements guided pathways to help students reach their goals faster and with less debt

Pearl River Community College, a 2‑year public institution serving about 5,000–8,000 students, needed to give students clearer career pathways, reduce time-to-degree and debt, and improve retention. To tackle these challenges the college partnered with Ellucian and introduced Ellucian Degree Works as part of its Guided Pathways initiative to help students set goals, plan exits or transfer options, and get timely direction.

By implementing Ellucian Degree Works, Pearl River created a more hands-on advising model that keeps students’ goals visible, streamlines advisement, and makes better use of limited resources. Ellucian’s solution empowered students to take control of their education, improved advising efficiency and has contributed to increased retention rates and faster, more affordable completion pathways.
