A Ellucian Case Study
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) — which serves about 85,000 students, 90% of whom are from Pennsylvania — faced declining enrollment, reduced state funding, and shrinking program offerings that threatened smaller rural campuses. To stabilize finances, restore program breadth, and enable cross-campus enrollment, PASSHE partnered with Ellucian and selected Ellucian Banner Cloud (through the OneSIS project, supported by Ellucian Experience) to consolidate its disparate student information systems.
Ellucian migrated campuses to the Banner Cloud under the OneSIS initiative, enabling shared course and program enrollment and centralized data management; the first phase linked four institutions and expanded program offerings for those schools from roughly 20–30 to more than 100. With Ellucian’s implementation and project support, at‑risk campuses were saved, more students gained access to a wider range of degrees and local workforce pathways, and PASSHE is on track to bring six or seven schools onto OneSIS by Spring 2024.
