A Ellucian Case Study
Loyola University Maryland identified that its IT organization was not operating optimally—projects lacked prioritization, campus technology underperformed, and growing student demand outpaced IT capacity. To operate more efficiently and save money, Loyola engaged Ellucian and moved forward with a cloud strategy using Ellucian Managed Cloud.
Ellucian migrated Loyola to Ellucian Managed Cloud (completed July 2017), supported a shift to a shared-services IT model and a project rationalization process, and helped retire on‑premise systems. The changes delivered measurable impact: an estimated $678,000 net savings (just over 6% vs. a 5% goal), roughly $500,000 saved from eliminating server maintenance and capital expenses, improved disaster recovery, and freed IT staff to focus on institutional goals and end users. Ellucian’s cloud expertise was cited as critical to the successful transformation.
