Case Study: Joliet Junior College achieves out-of-the-box ERP functionality and avoids customization with Ellucian Colleague (Ellucian)

Input from partners ensures products work great right out of the box

Joliet Junior College, a two‑year public institution serving over 15,000 students, needed its ERP to deliver the right functionality with minimal customization. To address this, the college worked with vendor Ellucian, deploying the Ellucian Colleague system and participating as a long‑time customer and beta development partner.

Ellucian invited Joliet Junior College into focus groups and beta programs so customer input was built into Colleague early in development; as a result Ellucian applied that feedback to the final product. The partnership helped Joliet implement more than 80% of Colleague’s modules (live since 1989), avoid later customizations, and achieve a system that the college reports “does 100% of what we want,” reducing surprises and making operations easier.
