In need of a technology overhaul, Laredo College embarked on a complete strategic realignment to get them to SaaS

Laredo College, a 75-year-old institution serving a primarily Hispanic community on the Texas border, found its technology and processes "8 to 10 years behind" peers: data scattered across spreadsheets, paper archives dating to 1947, and limited training and IT resources that stalled institutional progress. When Ellucian (via sales consultant Robin Stubbs) proposed a full strategic realignment, Laredo engaged on a two-year Strategic Alignment Plan to move key systems—including Banner SaaS and Degree Works—to the cloud to modernize operations and better serve students.

Ellucian is delivering a two-year SaaS migration plan that unites processes under Banner SaaS, adds Degree Works for integrated degree audits, and redesigns training and security practices; the engagement is planned to be delivered under budget. As a result, Laredo expects to eliminate information silos, shorten state-reporting timelines, improve disaster recovery and data security, free IT staff to act as institutional consultants, and provide better analytics and student success tools for transfer, workforce, and dual-enrollment pathways.
