How Waukesha County Technical College is leading a campus-wide digital transformation

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), a 2‑year public institution serving 8,000–15,000 students, needed to build a case for moving to the cloud so IT could prioritize strategic work. CIO Rodney Nobles determined the college lacked the in‑house capacity for programming, upgrades, disaster recovery and security across its Banner environment and other applications, and selected Ellucian and its Ellucian Cloud service to address those gaps.

Ellucian migrated WCTC’s Banner environment and related systems to Ellucian Cloud, assuming responsibility for upgrades, patching, security, disaster recovery and business continuity. As a result, systems security and continuity improved, maintenance and upgrades are handled in the cloud by Ellucian, operational burden and capital expenditures were reduced, and IT staff have been freed to lead digital transformation projects across campus that better support students.
