How SUNY Oswego applies student data to predict trends and course demand

SUNY Oswego faced challenges predicting registration trends and improving course scheduling. To address this, the university worked with Ellucian and deployed Ellucian Degree Works, including the Advising Student Profile app, to surface student course needs and support proactive planning.

Using Ellucian’s tools, the registrar can mine student data to quantify how many students need a specific course, validate system setups, and coordinate offerings with departments each semester. As a result, SUNY Oswego improved operational efficiency for administrators, faculty, and staff, helped students register for the courses they need to graduate on time, and created a feedback loop with Ellucian for ongoing product development.
