How Barstow Community College reconfigured their LMS to streamline workflows and prepare for future enhancements

Barstow Community College faced significant LMS inefficiencies that delayed student registration, grading, and interdepartmental communication — instructors had to export grades from Canvas and manually copy them into Ellucian Banner, and more than 10 CSV files were being populated via PowerShell, requiring heavy oversight. With Ellucian Banner already in place, Barstow engaged Ellucian and adopted Ellucian Ethos and the Ellucian Intelligent Learning Platform (ILP) for Canvas to build a centralized, cost‑effective architecture.

Ellucian worked alongside BCC to integrate Banner, Ethos/ILP, Canvas (and supporting tools like Postman), eliminating manual CSV processes and automating grade transfer and registration workflows. The Ellucian implementation alleviated administrative bottlenecks, reduced manual oversight, improved grading and registration throughput, and created a scalable platform ready to onboard future tools such as Ellucian Mobile and Ellucian Analytics.
