Case Study: Brookdale Community College achieves transparent, prioritized IT governance with Ellucian Managed Services

Charting the right path with IT governance

Brookdale Community College, a public two‑year institution in Lincroft, New Jersey serving about 14,000 students, sought to implement an IT governance model to guide priorities, improve transparency, and align technology investments with institutional goals. To build a repeatable, cross‑campus decision‑making process, Brookdale engaged Ellucian and leveraged Ellucian Managed Services to help design and operationalize the governance effort.

Ellucian helped establish a cross‑functional IT steering committee and a formal governance plan that was presented to and adopted by college leadership in late 2019. As a result, Brookdale achieved enhanced collaboration across stakeholders, increased transparency in decision making, and clearer prioritization of projects that support strategic goals; the effort also spurred a renewed focus on data standards and information security with a formal program adopted by the Board of Trustees.
