The University of Illinois, with campuses in Springfield, Urbana‑Champaign and Chicago, faced siloed systems, rising student expectations and budget pressures that made supporting separate campus IT environments unsustainable. To unify operations and reduce cost and complexity, the University engaged Ellucian and deployed a single instance of Banner along with complementary Ellucian solutions.
Ellucian implemented the consolidated Banner suite (Student, Finance, Financial Aid, Human Resources), the Ellucian Luminis Platform and integrations such as Banner Document Management and Ellucian International Student and Scholar Management; this enabled one upgrade instead of three, connected more than 77,000 students across the three campuses, cut international student check‑in from 2–3 days to hours, reduced total cost of ownership and delivered measurable savings in both budget and staff hours while improving the student experience and campus collaboration.
