A Ellucian Case Study

Preview of the Alamo Colleges Case Study

Alamo Colleges develops top talent by re-engineering processes and implementing new technology

Alamo Colleges, a five-campus community college district serving 64,336 students, needed to move from fragmented, paper- and spreadsheet-based HR processes to a strategic talent management program that would improve recruitment, retention, training and alignment with its institutional priorities (“The Alamo Way”). Facing inconsistent training, low visibility and compliance gaps (for example, only 12% of employees registered for online courses in 2012 and just 5% of new employees completed sexual harassment training), Alamo selected Ellucian and its Talent Management Suite to provide an enterprise-wide solution.

Ellucian implemented its cloud-based Talent Management Suite (including a Cornerstone-powered learning module and Banner integration) to centralize recruiting, learning and performance management and provide dashboards and reporting. As a result, employee registrations rose 146% by 2014, course completions increased 230% in the first year, 2,830 FTE completed training in 2013, cases reported/resolved dropped more than 35% in 2014, and Alamo saved over $100,000 in year one by creating custom courses—delivering greater transparency, better decision-making and stronger alignment across colleges with Ellucian’s platform.
