Case Study: Ocean County College achieves $15M in grants and major IT cost savings with Ellucian

Advance technology to match growing enrollments

Ocean County College (New Jersey, enrollment 9,477) faced rising enrollment and campus growth but lacked IT leadership, strategic planning, and the capacity to expand its IT footprint without adding staff. To address these challenges, Ocean County College partnered with Ellucian and deployed Colleague by Ellucian alongside Ellucian Academic Services, Ellucian Grants Services, and Ellucian Technology Management Services.

Ellucian conducted a gap analysis, provided on-site and remote teams (including an Ellucian executive who became OCC’s CIO), implemented Colleague modules, Ellucian Recruiter and other integrations, and modernized infrastructure and processes. The engagement helped Ocean County College win over $15 million in grants (including a $12M award), virtualize 30 servers—saving an estimated $135,000 plus $36,000 annually in support costs—reduce recurring administrative expenses, and improve student support (help‑desk satisfaction 4.8/5 with 85% of requests resolved).
