Building a SaaS Ecosystem with Ellucian Student

Western Iowa Tech Community College, a multi-campus college serving about 5,000 students in northwestern Iowa, wanted to modernize its technology environment and reduce the burden of routine system maintenance on its small IT team. Working with Ellucian, the college moved from managing Colleague on its own infrastructure toward a cloud-based, SaaS ERP environment to free staff from keeping legacy systems running and to gain broader campus buy-in for technology changes.

Ellucian implemented Ellucian Student powered by Colleague in about 18 months, helping Western Iowa Tech decommission 35 servers, retire five third-party integrations, and eliminate many customizations. The move also reduced patching and on-site maintenance, improved interoperability with other SaaS tools, and gave staff more time to focus on innovation and student-facing projects.
