Case Study: Little Rock School District improves ELL achievement with Ellevation

A Ellevation Case Study

Preview of the Little Rock School District Case Study

Little Rock Schools From State Takeover to Student Achievement

Little Rock School District, Arkansas’s largest district, faced significant challenges after a state takeover, including improving instruction and outcomes for nearly 3,000 English Language Learners. With a growing ELL population and a small ESL staff, the district needed a better way to manage records, monitor student progress, and support teachers in meeting the needs of English learners. Ellevation and its Elevation Strategies were used to help address these challenges.

By implementing Ellevation, Little Rock School District shifted from a compliance-focused approach to one centered on instruction and collaboration. Ellevation streamlined ELL program management and provided research-based, scaffolded strategies teachers could use to differentiate instruction. The results included stronger classroom collaboration, improved teacher confidence, and measurable gains: at Baseline Academy, 33% of students grew one language level on the ELPA21, and at Chicot Elementary, 88.5% of students scored “progressing” or “proficient” on the ELPA21.
