Ministry of Education and Sports, Uganda - Customer Case Study

Impiger Technologies developed an Integrated Loan Management System (ILMIS) for Uganda’s Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports and its client, the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB), to replace a slow, completely paper-based loan process. The manual workflow from application to disbursal and manual shortlisting made approvals time-consuming and opaque, limiting students’ ability to understand eligibility and access higher education fairly.

ILMIS is a web-based, end-to-end loan and scholarship platform — covering application, allocation, disbursement, recovery, centralized database and document management — designed for national-scale use and data sharing with partner agencies. The system streamlined workflows, removed non-value tasks, improved efficiency and transparency, and enables thousands of Ugandan students to apply for, receive and repay loans more easily.
