NatWest brings Open Banking to WordPress with Elementary Digital, powering 5,000,000 Payit™ transactions

Elementary Digital partnered with NatWest to create a bespoke WordPress plugin that would integrate the bank's Payit™ Open Banking payment solution with WooCommerce stores. The challenge was to develop a simple-to-install, secure plugin that could be quickly deployed into production and handle a high volume of transactions while remaining compatible across various versions of PHP, WordPress, and WooCommerce.

The solution implemented by Elementary Digital was a future-proof plugin that securely connects to the Payit™ API, enabling customers to pay directly from their mobile banking app. To ensure reliability, Elementary Digital built a full automated testing suite. The result was a seamless payment method that leverages the security of Open Banking, contributing to the Payit™ platform which had processed 5 million transactions by August 2022.
