Electric Utility Company needed to drive down operating costs, with a specific focus on reducing accidents/liability and fuel spend. To address this, the customer engaged Element Fleet Management and piloted the vendor’s telematics-powered fleet service.

Element Fleet Management implemented a 29-vehicle pilot using in-vehicle reminders (buzzers), customized driver scorecards and manager dashboards. The program cut idling miles by 54% and speeding miles by 17%, raised seat belt use to 99.4%, reduced mileage 9%, and produced savings of $40.58 per unit per month ($486.96/year); extrapolated across a 2,400-unit fleet, Element estimates potential savings of $1,168,704.
