Truck Experts Create Cng Pilot Program to Meet Corporate Responsibility and Cost Goals

Large Beverage Company wanted to add compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to support a corporate green initiative, but an initial pilot with another provider failed—trucks were mis‑spec’d, fuel tanks were recalled, onsite fueling wasn’t available, and it took 18 months to deploy 67 trucks. Dissatisfied with pricing and service, Large Beverage Company turned to Element Fleet Management and engaged Element’s strategic consulting, truck engineering and leasing services to run a second pilot.

Element Fleet Management partnered with Freightliner to design aerodynamic trucks, coordinated with a fuel tank supplier to build onsite fueling, set up a new repair shop with Amerit and trained technicians, and conducted detailed reviews and weekly project meetings. The second pilot placed 97 trucks into service in just three months and has driven dramatic reliability improvements—vehicle uptime reached 100% in recent months.
