The National Trust for Scotland faced the challenge of recreating the 700-year-old Battle of Bannockburn for a new visitor centre without any surviving artefacts. They needed a truly immersive experience that would place visitors directly into the chaos of the medieval battlefield, which traditional filming techniques could not achieve. The vendor, Electrosonic, was tasked with implementing a solution using advanced motion capture technology to bring the historic event to life.

Electrosonic designed and installed an immersive 3D experience for the Battle Room, utilizing a world-first combination of motion capture and complex projection mapping. This solution allowed visitors to not only witness the battle but also interact with it via touchscreens to generate troop movements. The result was an extremely popular attraction that provides an enjoyable and memorable learning experience for all ages, significantly increasing visitor numbers year-round for the National Trust for Scotland.
