South Carolina deploys 14,000 voting machines in half the planned time with Election Systems & Software

The state of South Carolina faced the challenge of upgrading its 15-year-old voting system, which lacked a paper trail, to a more secure and auditable paper-based process. They partnered with Election Systems & Software (ES&S) to implement a new solution, selecting their ExpressVote universal voting system and DS200 precinct scanners.

ES&S successfully implemented nearly 14,000 ExpressVote machines and over 2,400 DS200 scanners across the state in half the planned time. The deployment and training went so well that counties began using the new equipment four months ahead of schedule. The results included a smooth Election Day for poll workers, high voter excitement, and an easy transition for voters who found the new paper-based process simple and secure.

South Carolina
