Case Study: Planet ensures DVB-T2 broadcasting for hospitals with Elecard CodecWorks

Planet broadcasts to 900 bedside terminals in 3 days with Elecard

The customer, Planet, an Italian system integrator specializing in IP video streaming, faced a challenge where two hospitals needed to broadcast DVB-T2 signals but had obsolete IPTV equipment incompatible with AVC/H264 video. Their task was to transcode these streams to MPEG-2 without replacing all the existing decoding hardware. Elecard implemented a solution using its CodecWorks transcoder deployed on servers at each hospital.

Elecard's solution successfully transcoded 18 video streams per hospital for robust broadcasting to a total of 900 bedside terminals and set-top boxes. This provided significant budget savings for the end customer by preserving the old equipment and saved time due to the solution's easy installation and user-friendly interface. The entire implementation for both sites was completed quickly, taking just three days per installation.
