Northcott, one of Australia's largest not-for-profit disability service organisations, faced significant challenges with its outdated intranet, NIGEL. The platform was difficult to update, contained duplicate and out-of-date documents, and was inaccessible to remote staff. Its poor information architecture made finding critical information difficult, a problem that was exacerbated after an acquisition doubled its frontline workforce. Northcott partnered with vendor Elcom to implement a new intranet solution.
Elcom delivered a new intranet named Nula, which featured a flexible taxonomy, dynamic content display, and a powerful search function. The solution included dedicated workspaces for teams, an automated form and workflow for the quoting process, and an integrated corporate directory. The new intranet achieved over 15,000 weekly sessions and 800 document downloads, greatly improving information findability and automating a complex approval process for Elcom's customer, Northcott.
