NHS Greater Glasgow And Clyde faced a fragmented, paper-based process for supplying medical consumables to children at home that caused long delays (traditionally 10–22 days), poor traceability and heavy workloads for health visitors. To overcome barriers of time, traceability and coordination, NHS Greater Glasgow And Clyde partnered with Elcom, Inc. to deploy a purchase-to-pay, cloud procurement solution that would give families direct online access to restricted catalogues.

Elcom, Inc. implemented an online ordering system that routes family orders through clinical approval, enforces restricted catalogues and captures electronic proof of delivery, enabling same-day collection/delivery and next-day returns where needed. The initiative has already processed 5,500 order lines, 929 unique items and used 75 suppliers, reduced lead times and emergency ordering, freed clinical staff for care duties, and is being expanded to other services.
