How Custom Learning Solutions and Interactivity Helped Forge New Paths in Caring for Patients with Disabilities

St. John Fisher University's Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing faced a challenge in upskilling its nursing staff. Their existing video-based training for caring for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities was passive and ineffective. They needed a comprehensive, immersive, and asynchronous program that was accessible, interactive, and could be distributed to a large, dispersed audience.

ELB Learning developed a custom, scenario-based eLearning solution using Storyline. The program immersed learners in realistic patient care situations, allowing them to make critical decisions. This approach resulted in a 360° skilling program that provided a deep understanding of the material and a safe space to practice. The success of this initial course led the Institute to sign with ELB Learning for six additional courses to further its educational mission.
