EVERFI earns 2019 Silver Medal for basketball STEM learning with ELB Learning

everfi, dedicated to tackling social issues through education, partnered with ELB Learning to create a gamified course that uses basketball to teach 6th and 7th grade STEM topics. The challenge was to make math and science concepts like probability and sound waves less abstract and more engaging for middle school students by connecting them to the real-world context of the sport.

ELB Learning developed a modular course featuring two main lessons on free throw probability and arena sound waves. Their solution utilized real-world scenarios, modern modular content, and expanded applications of STEM to basketball. The course allowed students to explore concepts interactively, leading them from introduction to a career-connected resolution. As a result of this partnership, the ELB Learning course earned a 2019 Silver Medal in the International Serious Play awards.
